Alwaght- Britain's new Prime Minister Theresa May declared she would push the nuclear button and kill hundreds of thousands of people if she thought it was necessary.
Speaking in the House of Commons in London during a debate on whether to renew the Trident nuclear deterrent, Ms May gave a brief answer to a MP who asked: "Are you prepared to authorize a nuclear strike that could kill hundreds of thousands of men, women and children?”
"Yes," She replied.
New Premier was successful to push MPs in favor of spending up to £40bn for replacing four submarines that carry nuclear warheads.
After more than five hours of discussion, some 472 members supported the government's motion, while 117 voted against - a majority of 355.
Britain’s Trident programme was opposed by all Scottish National party members, the Lib Dems and Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn who spoke out strongly against the plans during the deabte.
George Kerevan, an MP for the SNP, asked Mrs May: "Can we cut to the chase? Is she personally prepared to authorise a nuclear strike that can kill a hundred thousand innocent men, women and children?"
She replied: "Yes - and I have to say to you, the whole point of a deterrent is that our enemies need to know that we would be prepared to."
