Afghan MP Killed in Kabul Bomb Blast

Alwaght-An Afghan parliament member Sherwali Wardak was killed in an explosion in Kabul province on Sunday evening.

Lawmaker Sherwali is the brother of Farooq Wardak who is an influential political figure and the former Minister of Education.

The incident took place later this evening in the 5th police district of Kabul city after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was detonated.

Source say that the the IED was planted in an electricity box and was detonated upon the arrival of Mr. Sherwali.

No group including the Taliban terrorists have claimed responsibility behind the attack so far.

This comes as the Taliban insurgents have stepped up attacks against the security forces and government officials across the country recently.

The group staged a major attack against the Appellate Court in central Logar province of Afghanistan earlier today which left at least 7 people dead and over 20 others wounded.

Elsewhere in Afghanistan, At least 18 militants affiliated to the ISIS Takfiri terrorist group were killed and 11 others were wounded during an airstrike in eastern Nangarhar province.

The airstrike was carried out in the vicinity of Kot district where the ISIS affiliated terrorists are actively operating.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said a vehicle belonging to ISIS loyalists was also destroyed in the Sunday airstrike.

Earlier, at least 9 ISIS loyalists were killed and 7 others were wounded during an operation in Bati Kot district of Nangarhar province.

The loyalists of the terror group are believed to have significant presence in some parts of eastern Nangarhar province.

The Afghanistan National Security Council (NSC) recently approved in principle the strategy to fight the ISIS terrorist group as the loyalists of the terror group are attempting to expand foothold in the country.
