Turkey-Backed Terror Groups Fight against Democratic Syrian Forces: PYD Co-Chairman

Alwaght- Two Turkey- Backed Ahrar terrorist groups, al-Sham and Jaish al-Islam, are fighting against the Democratic Syrian Forces that are countering ISIS terrorist group,

Sputnik, Russian official news agency, cited Salih Muslim, co-chairman of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), as saying on Monday that  "Mentioned groups [Ahrar ash-Sham and Jaish al-Islam] are supported by Turkey and are fighting against the Democratic Syrian Forces. They are jihadist, but presented like Free Syrian Army".

Democratic Syrian Forces commonly abbreviated as SDF or QSD, are an alliance of Arab, Assyrian, Armenian, Kurdish, Turkmen, Circassian and Chechen fighters fighting against ISIS and Al-Nusra Front terrorist groups. The group aims "to create a democratic and a bilateral Syria, where true justice is implemented over time."

On May 12, the UN Security Council rejected the proposal of Russia to include Ahrar al-Sham and Jaish al-Islam in the UN list of terrorist organizations. Sanctioning the two groups would allow airstrikes against them, as terrorist organizations are not included in the ceasefire agreement brokered by Russia and the United States in late February.
