IRGC Navy Reports Second Supertanker Explosion Following Naval Mine Strike in Hormuz

ALWAGHT- The IRGC Navy reported that another supertanker burst into flames after hitting a sea mine while attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without authorization.

The IRGC Navy said a supertanker carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil suffered a massive explosion in its engine room on Saturday after striking a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel reportedly came to a halt after the incident, having switched off its radar and positioning systems while attempting to navigate an unauthorized route.

The IRGC Navy accused the vessel of relying on US military guidance and warned all ships that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed under Iran’s regulations. It urged maritime traffic to coordinate with Iranian authorities before entering the strategic waterway, warning that unauthorized transit could have serious consequences.

The incident comes amid the ongoing US-Israeli war against Iran, which began on February 28. Iranian forces have repeatedly warned that vessels attempting to cross the strait without authorization, particularly under US military escort, would be treated as hostile.
