ALWAGHT- The head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force has reaffirmed Tehran’s unwavering backing for the Palestinian cause, saying years of sanctions, conflicts imposed on Iran, and growing international pressure have not weakened its commitment.
IRGC Quds Force Commander Brigadier General Esmail Qa’ani has reaffirmed Iran’s continued support for the Palestinian people and their resistance, emphasizing that protecting al-Aqsa Mosque remains one of Tehran’s highest priorities. In a message to the Beirut-based al-Quds International Institution on Wednesday, he stressed Iran’s commitment to confronting threats against the Islamic holy site.
Qa’ani said Iran’s backing for Palestine has remained a fundamental commitment since the 1979 Islamic Revolution and would not be abandoned despite decades of sanctions, imposed wars and mounting external pressure. He reiterated Tehran’s position in support of Palestinian liberation from Israeli occupation and aggression.
The Quds Force commander also thanked the institution for expressing solidarity with Iran during what he described as unprovoked American-Israeli aggression, including offering condolences for Iranian casualties, particularly the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
His message comes amid heightened tensions over restrictions on Palestinian Muslim worshippers at al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East al-Quds and repeated incursions by Israeli settlers, often protected by occupation forces. Palestinian resistance movements have warned that such actions threaten the holy site’s status and identity, calling for urgent measures to protect it.
