ALWAGHT- A Pentagon inspector general’s report says an F-35 stealth fighter suffered combat damage after being struck by Iran, marking the first such incident involving the aircraft since it entered operational service.
A Pentagon inspector general report estimates that the Iran war cost the United States $33.4 billion through late June. The conflict also resulted in the loss of several aircraft, helicopters, and more than 30 drones, while an F-35A sustained combat damage for the first time in its operational history.
The report also highlighted significant depletion of US precision-guided munitions, putting pressure on military stockpiles and supply chains. Defense officials have responded by pushing for faster production and procurement, while maintaining that US defense manufacturing remains at historically high levels.
