ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said a planned gathering of regional foreign ministers in Oman to address measures for ensuring secure commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz had been called off following a request from Saudi Arabia.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran and Oman have finalized an understanding on maritime security following weeks of negotiations. He said Tehran and Muscat will determine how to formally announce the agreement, while stressing Iran remains committed to regional dialogue.
Baghaei said a planned meeting of regional foreign ministers in Oman was an opportunity to address safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, but was postponed at the request of some regional countries. He also warned that continued conflict among Muslim countries would benefit Israel by prolonging regional tensions.
The spokesman rejected US allegations of Iranian involvement in an attack on a Saudi oil pipeline, calling them fabricated claims aimed at creating divisions. He also denied Iranian interference in Yemen, saying Ansarullah makes its own decisions, and stressed that maritime security cannot be separated from the broader security realities in the region.
Baghaei dismissed IAEA-related claims about construction at Iran’s Mount Kolang as part of US media and psychological warfare. He also condemned Austria’s denial of a visa to Iran’s nuclear chief and said Tehran had summoned Austria’s chargé d’affaires, while describing a captured US unmanned underwater vehicle as legitimate spoils of war.
