ALWAGHT- Pezeshkian made the comments while meeting Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kyrgyzstan on Monday.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s role in negotiations leading to the recent MoU, saying Tehran is ready to implement the agreement if the other side fulfills its commitments. He also stressed Iran’s support for regional peace and opposition to war and violence regardless of religion, sect, or ethnicity.
Pezeshkian welcomed the Mecca Agreement, arguing that unity among Muslim countries could deter Israeli attacks and allow regional disputes to be resolved through dialogue without foreign intervention. He called for broader cooperation among Islamic countries in defense, politics, economics, and culture.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Pezeshkian’s sincerity and said increased diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Islamabad had produced positive results. He described the Mecca Agreement as defensive and aimed at regional security, while calling for greater cooperation and dialogue to end ongoing tensions.
