ALWAGHT- The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has vowed to respond firmly to any new threat or act of aggression.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement marking the 36th anniversary of the return of Iranian prisoners of war (POWs) who had been held captive during the 1980s war with Iraq. It said the resilience and sacrifice of the former POWs continue to inspire its forces.
The IRGC said its forces remain fully prepared to defend Iran’s territorial integrity, independence, national interests, and the Islamic Revolution. It stressed that it would coordinate with other Iranian armed forces to confront threats.
The IRGC also warned that any new threat or aggression would face a decisive response, pledging to use maximum deterrence and powerful offensive operations. It described the former POWs as symbols of patience, resilience, freedom, and national honor.
The statement comes amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States following the expiration of a 60-day deadline for negotiations on a lasting agreement. It also referenced the recent conflict, ceasefire, and subsequent disputes over alleged US violations of an earlier memorandum of understanding.
