ALWAGHT- Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tehran is not engaged in any negotiations with Washington at present, while noting that discussions with Oman over a shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz are temporary and focused on facilitating safe maritime passage.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Tehran is not currently negotiating with Washington, while talks with Oman on establishing a temporary safe shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz are continuing. He said the discussions are aimed at ensuring maritime security and do not represent broader negotiations with the US.
Baghaei said Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has been holding consultations with regional officials to prevent further escalation and protect Iran’s interests. He added that regional security depends on cooperation among neighboring countries, while arguing that Iran’s deterrence capabilities remain the main factor preventing further aggression.
The spokesman criticized US and Israeli actions in the region, accusing them of targeting civilians and destabilizing West Asia. He also rejected claims that Iran directs actions by groups in Yemen and Iraq, saying regional issues should be addressed through dialogue and political solutions.
Baghaei said Iran remains open to regional cooperation, including with Oman, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and China, while stressing that Tehran will continue defending its interests. He also addressed issues including Iran-Ukraine tensions, maritime security, and the need for international accountability over what he described as violations of international law.
