ALWAGHT- Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, has denied media claims that Tehran proposed direct talks with Washington, calling the reports "fabricated."
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei rejected as "fabricated" media reports claiming Tehran had sought direct negotiations with Washington, stressing that Iran is focused on defense rather than talks. He said there are currently no negotiations with the United States, although mediators may relay messages between the two sides.
Baghaei accused the United States of violating a memorandum of understanding less than 23 days after it was signed by launching attacks against Iran before Tehran's deadline to fulfill its commitments. He said Iran would not compromise on its principles or national security.
He also alleged that the US, in coordination with certain regional countries, diverted ships in the Strait of Hormuz from a safe northern route to a riskier southern route. He claimed some Persian Gulf commercial vessels switched off their tracking systems and were used to transport military equipment.
Baghaei dismissed reports of a ceasefire or renewed US-Iran talks as media speculation, saying Iran's only ongoing discussions are bilateral talks with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that any further US action would draw an immediate and decisive response from Iran and accused Washington of bearing full responsibility for the current situation.
