ALWAGHT- Iran’s first homegrown radar satellite, Rad-1, is set to be unveiled soon after a slight technical delay, according to the chairman of the Iranian Space Agency.
Hassan Salarieh, chairman of the Iranian Space Agency and deputy minister of information and communications technology, said Iran's first domestically developed radar satellite, Rad-1, will be unveiled soon, describing it as one of the country's most significant space projects. He noted that the launch was delayed from its original schedule earlier this year due to technical issues common in satellite development.
Salarieh said the unveiling of Rad-1 would mark a major milestone for Iran's space industry. He also revealed that work is already underway on Rad-2, a more advanced radar satellite expected to provide higher imaging accuracy than its predecessor.
He further highlighted expanding cooperation with the private sector in satellite development, saying future generations of Iranian micro- and nanosatellites will feature improved imaging capabilities. The official added that the ministry is also focusing on expanding satellite imagery and data-based services to improve efficiency across various sectors.
