ALWAGHT- During talks with Iran's foreign minister, the president of Iraq's Kurdistan Region discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including implementation of the Iran-Iraq Security Cooperation Agreement to enhance border security and prevent third parties from exploiting the region.
Nechirvan Barzani, president of Iraq's Kurdistan Region, met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran during his visit to attend ceremonies honoring the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Barzani conveyed the condolences of the Kurdistan Region's leadership and people over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and other Iranian officials and citizens, and wished Iran continued success and stability.
Araghchi welcomed the participation of senior Iraqi and Kurdistan Region delegations in the commemorative ceremonies and thanked Iraqi officials, religious leaders, intellectuals, and the public for their messages of sympathy and expressions of solidarity with Iran.
