ALWAGHT- The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Force announced it had thwarted an infiltration attempt by a separatist militant group seeking to conduct sabotage and terrorist attacks in northwestern Iran.
The IRGC's Hamzeh Seyyed al-Shohada Base said its forces dismantled a five-member separatist militant group after it allegedly crossed into Iran's northwestern border region to carry out sabotage and terrorist activities. The military said the group was identified through intelligence operations before being ambushed in the mountainous area overlooking Piranshahr.
According to the IRGC, all five members of the group were killed during the operation, and Iranian forces seized weapons and other equipment. The military also warned that any attempts to undermine security along Iran's northwestern borders would be met with a decisive response.
