ALWAGHT- A leading Arab analyst has suggested that the drones which entered Saudi airspace from Iraq on Sunday and were later shot down likely belonged to the Zionist regime, taking off from a secret Israeli base inside Iraq.
Abdel Bari Atwan, editor-in-chief of the pan-Arab newspaper Rai al-Youm, responded on X to the Saudi Ministry of Defense's announcement about intercepting three drones that entered Saudi airspace from Iraq. Atwan asserted that the drones were likely Israeli, launched from secret bases in Iraq's western desert established with US support. He further compared the incident to drones that bombed the US Embassy in Riyadh at the start of the war against Iran, adding that all possibilities remain open.
Turki al-Malki, spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, confirmed that three drones entering Saudi airspace from Iraq were intercepted on Sunday morning. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia reserves the right to respond at the appropriate time and place, and will take all necessary measures to counter any violation of its sovereignty and threats to the security of its citizens and residents.
