ALWAGHT- According to an IRGC deputy commander, Iran has complete control over transit through the Strait of Hormuz, and no ship may pass without Tehran's permission.
A senior IRGC commander, Major General Yadollah Javani, has stated that Iran is establishing "new management" over the Strait of Hormuz, which he described as a "blessing" that will help shape the global order. He emphasized that any ship wishing to transit the waterway must first obtain permission from Iran's armed forces to ensure its safety, while vessels from hostile enemies will be "confronted decisively." Iran has controlled the strait since late February, permitting only non-hostile ships that follow Iranian military protocols.
Earlier on Monday, the Iranian Navy fired missiles and drones as a warning to US warships that approached the strait in an apparent challenge to Iran's authority. The Navy stated that it was forced to take this action after the American vessels ignored previous warnings not to approach the strategic waterway.
