Western Media Shared Blame for Gaza Genocide, Iran Declares

ALWAGHT- Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has stated that mainstream Western media actively facilitated and justified Israel's genocide in Gaza.

In a Saturday post on X, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, citing Adam Johnson's book "How to Sell a Genocide," argued that mainstream Western media did not merely exhibit habitual bias but actively enabled and justified mass atrocities in Gaza. He stated that through carefully crafted language, manipulative framing, and relentless amplification of Israeli and American official narratives, Western outlets sanitized horrors, downplayed human suffering, and whitewashed Israel's atrocities—all while hiding behind the pretense of "professional journalism."

Since the ceasefire declaration between Israel and Hamas on October 11, 2025, the Israeli regime has killed 823 people in Gaza and wounded 2,308 others. The brutal attacks have caused widespread devastation, with preliminary international assessments estimating reconstruction costs at approximately 71.4 billion dollars - 26.3 billion of which must be secured within the first 18 months. Gaza's shattered healthcare system requires over $10 billion and more than five years for rebuilding. Additionally, more than 371,000 housing units have been damaged, and Gaza's economy has contracted by 84%, signaling a widespread collapse in production, employment, and investment.

Since the Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, at least 72,599 Palestinians have been killed in the coastal territory and 172,411 others wounded, the vast majority women and children. The figures underscore the immense human toll of the ongoing Israeli assault, which Baghaei and others have characterized as a genocide facilitated in large part by mainstream Western media's complicity.
