Iran Urges the United States to Abandon Sanctions and War Rhetoric in Favor of Diplomacy and Respect

ALWAGHT- A top Iranian diplomat urges the US to drop ineffective sanctions and war policies and embrace diplomacy.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi warned at the United Nations Human Rights Council that while Iran’s enemies may start a war, they would be unable to control its outcome, stressing that sanctions and military pressure have failed. He urged the United States to abandon coercion and instead pursue diplomacy and mutual respect as the only viable path forward.

He said Iran does not seek aggression but will firmly defend itself against any military or political conspiracy, cautioning that any war would have consequences extending far beyond Iran and engulfing the wider region. The remarks came amid renewed threats and military posturing by the United States under President Donald Trump, which Iranian officials say could trigger a decisive response even if an attack were limited.

Gharibabadi also accused the US and Israel of exploiting unrest and human rights narratives to justify aggression, citing heavy civilian casualties during the June 2025 conflict and deadly riots linked to foreign-backed violence. He said those responsible for inciting instability and committing crimes against civilians must be held accountable, condemning what he described as the politicization of human rights for strategic ends.
