Araghchi Urges Trump to Provide Evidence For 32,000 Iran Riot Death Claim

ALWAGHT- Iran’s foreign minister has firmly rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that 32,000 people were killed within two days of riots across Iran last month, calling on him to provide evidence.

Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran has published a full list of 3,117 people killed during recent unrest, including around 200 security officers, stressing transparency and inviting anyone disputing the figures to present evidence. His remarks came after Donald Trump claimed—without citing sources—that 32,000 people were killed in two days of January riots.

Iranian officials strongly rejected Trump’s claim. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei described similar figures circulated by hostile media as a “big lie,” accusing adversaries of fabricating casualty numbers after failing to destabilize the country on the ground. Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs reiterated that most of the 3,117 victims were civilians and security personnel.

Tehran has blamed the unrest and associated violence on foreign involvement, particularly the US and Israel. Iranian officials cited public statements, including a social media post by former US secretary of state Mike Pompeo, as well as online messages attributed to Mossad, which appeared to encourage protests and signal on-the-ground support.
