ALWAGHT- The IRGC Ground Force commander stated that Iran remains fully ready to respond to security challenges, citing the country’s history with terrorism as a factor in strengthening its counterterrorism stance.
Brigadier General Mohammad Karami delivered his remarks during a visit to the Sahand-2025 joint counterterrorism war game in East Azarbaijan, where he personally assessed the combat readiness and morale of the forces on the ground and warned that constant vigilance is essential in the face of mounting security threats.
He underscored that Iran is no stranger to the horrors of terrorism, stating that the nation has lost 17,000 lives to terror attacks. He said the exercise was designed as a direct response to those sacrifices and serves as a clear message of Iran’s determination to confront terrorism head-on.
General Karami noted that the large-scale drill is being conducted with the participation of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), with Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, and the Republic of Azerbaijan also present as guest and observer nations — signaling a growing regional focus on counterterrorism cooperation.
Reaffirming Iran’s military posture, he declared the country fully prepared to counter any threat, adding that strengthening defensive power and operational firepower will remain an uncompromising priority for the armed forces.
