Israel Keeps Striking Gaza During Truce; West Bank Deaths Rise

ALWAGHT- Despite a fragile ceasefire that began in early October, the Israeli military has launched a new series of airstrikes across various areas of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli warplanes targeted eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City early Monday, with explosions reported in the area as residential buildings were demolished. Airstrikes were also reported in Khan Younis, while artillery shelling hit the eastern flank of Deir el-Balah. No immediate casualty reports were available following the attacks.

Since the ceasefire on October 10, the death toll in Gaza has reached 236. Gaza authorities reported 194 violations of the truce by Israeli forces, including crossing ceasefire boundaries, blocking essential supplies, and continuing shootings, shelling, and incursions. Only 3,203 of 13,200 expected trucks carrying aid entered Gaza during the month, reflecting a 24% compliance rate.

In the West Bank, violence continued as Israeli settlers burned a vehicle near Nablus and shot dead Ahmed Rabhi al-Atrash north of al-Khalil. Israeli forces also killed 17-year-old Jamil Atef Hanani in Beit Furik, and conducted raids in Allar, Qalqilya, Ramallah, and Bethlehem, abducting several Palestinians.

Since October 2023, Israeli military and settler attacks have killed over 1,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 10,000. UN reports indicate Palestinian property has been targeted over 2,400 times in the past two years, displacing at least 3,055 people. In July 2024, the ICJ ruled Israel’s occupation illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds.
