Hezbollah Acts Independently of Tehran, Says Iranian Representative

ALWAGHT- Seyyed Abdullah Safieddine, Hezbollah’s representative in Iran, affirmed that Tehran provides support to the Resistance but refrains from influencing its military or political affairs.

Hezbollah’s representative in Iran, Seyyed Abdullah Safieddine, discussed the group’s leadership, structure, and unwavering alliance with Tehran. He emphasized the continuity of Hezbollah’s leadership under Sheikh Naim Qassem and highlighted Iran’s long-standing moral and logistical support for the Resistance, while stressing that Tehran never interferes in Hezbollah’s political or military decision-making.

Safieddine recalled the events of the 2006 Lebanon war, noting that when hostilities began, Iran’s Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, immediately mobilized the entire Iranian state apparatus to aid Lebanon but refrained from directing Hezbollah’s operations. He described how Iranian ministries and institutions coordinated humanitarian and logistical assistance, transforming the country into a comprehensive support network for the Resistance. Despite ongoing aggression, Safieddine said, Israel has failed to achieve any strategic success, as the Resistance’s institutions remain strong and resilient.

He further dismissed claims of Iranian interference in Lebanon, clarifying that Tehran’s role has always been to help the Lebanese defend themselves rather than to establish influence or control. Iran’s objective, he said, is the defense of the region against Zionist and Western aggression, which he identified as the root of instability in the Islamic world. Safieddine pointed to Israeli ambitions, revealed through recent official statements and maps, as proof of broader regional designs that Iran and its allies are determined to resist.

Concluding the interview, Safieddine described the relationship between Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah and Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as one of deep trust and spiritual kinship, surpassing familial bonds. He affirmed that Iran has never demanded any service or favor from Hezbollah in return for its support, asserting that Tehran’s assistance is purely aimed at helping those who defend their nations and dignity.
