ALWAGHT- Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Argentine Nobel Peace Prize winner, filed a petition urging the arrest of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu over Gaza-related war crimes and genocide, denouncing President Milei’s support for Israel and advocating for Palestinian justice.
Argentine Nobel Peace Prize laureate Adolfo Pérez Esquivel has filed a federal court petition urging Argentina to uphold its obligations under the International Criminal Court (ICC) and arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he enters the country. Pérez criticized President Javier Milei’s pro-Israel stance and warned that ignoring ICC rulings would undermine democracy. He condemned Israel’s military actions in Gaza, citing the deaths of approximately 20,000 children, and argued that accountability for war crimes is unavoidable.
Pérez highlighted the broader geopolitical context, accusing the United States of enabling Israel’s actions by blocking UN peace initiatives and allowing violations of international law. He also criticized the UN for failing to protect Palestinians and called for global reform to ensure peace. His statements emphasize the need for international solidarity and pressure to stop the ongoing assault and uphold human rights.
The Nobel laureate underscored domestic solidarity, noting that many Jewish Argentines oppose Israel’s attacks, and praised civil society initiatives such as the Global Sumud Flotilla that deliver aid to Gaza. Through his legal petition, Pérez is calling on Argentina to prioritize justice and stand with Gaza’s victims rather than political alliances with Israel and the United States.
