ALWAGHT- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran would rather face sanctions than agree to what he described as an “unacceptable” US request to relinquish all of its enriched uranium.
President Masoud Pezeshkian, speaking after the UN General Assembly in New York, said Iran had reached an understanding with European parties but remained at odds with the United States over the nuclear issue. He stressed that Washington’s push for Iran to hand over its enriched uranium in exchange for a short reprieve was “unacceptable.”
He warned that the US and its allies are likely to trigger the snapback of sanctions in the coming months, but said Tehran would rather face renewed measures than submit to “irrational” demands. Pezeshkian vowed that Iran would overcome the challenge, pointing to preparations already in place and the country’s determination to remain resilient.
The president emphasized that Iran’s strength lies in unity, scientific progress, and cultural influence, alongside partnerships with regional neighbors, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. He reiterated that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful, contrasting it with those who, in his words, “seek to create fear in the world.”
