ALWAGHT- Spokesmen for Russian battlegroups stated that Ukrainian forces suffered about 1,465 casualties across all fronts of the special military operation within the past 24 hours.
Russian battlegroups across multiple fronts reported significant Ukrainian losses in both personnel and equipment on Saturday, as the conflict nears its third year. Moscow continues to frame its “special military operation,” launched in February 2022, as an effort to liberate Russian-speaking regions, prevent NATO expansion, and counter Western influence in Ukraine. Despite several rounds of negotiations, including prisoner and body exchanges earlier in 2025, peace efforts remain stalled, with the Kremlin accusing European states of obstructing progress.
The United States and European allies have maintained strong support for Ukraine, providing weapons, financial assistance, and sanctions against Russia. While US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have held talks, no significant breakthroughs have been achieved. The conflict remains deeply entrenched, with both sides blaming one another for the collapse of diplomatic initiatives.
At the UN Security Council, Russian envoy Vasily Nebenzya accused Ukraine’s leadership of deliberately prolonging the war to maintain power and secure Western backing. He claimed President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly abandoned peace initiatives, rejected Putin’s offer for talks in Moscow, and instead sought more weapons from Europe. According to Nebenzya, with Zelensky’s popularity declining, military escalation has become a tool for his political survival.
