ALWAGHT- President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran conveyed sympathy to Pakistan’s leadership and citizens after deadly floods left numerous casualties and injuries.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian extended condolences to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan following devastating floods that struck parts of the country. He expressed Iran’s readiness to provide humanitarian assistance and wished recovery for the injured and affected communities.
Local officials reported that at least 321 people have died after two days of torrential rains and flooding, with the vast majority of casualties—307—recorded in Buner District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Additional deaths were confirmed in Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Pakistan’s prime minister convened an urgent meeting as the military was placed on standby to aid relief efforts.
Rescue operations and road clearance are underway, supported by the release of emergency funds. Authorities warned that heavy rainfall is expected to continue until August 21. The monsoon season, which provides most of South Asia’s annual rainfall and is vital for agriculture, also regularly brings widespread destruction.
