ALWAGHT- Egypt’s foreign minister has stepped up efforts to repair relations between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency after Tehran decided to reduce its cooperation with the UN nuclear body, which has remained silent on recent Israeli and US attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry reported that Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held separate phone calls on August 12 with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi. The discussions were part of Egypt’s efforts to reduce regional tensions and encourage renewed cooperation between Iran and the UN nuclear agency.
In his conversation with Araqchi, Abdelatty stressed the importance of following diplomatic channels and creating conditions for Iran to resume cooperation with the IAEA, which he said would build mutual trust and support regional security and stability.
Abdelatty also spoke with Grossi about recent developments in Iran’s nuclear file, including the findings of the IAEA deputy director general’s visit to Tehran. The talks focused on restoring confidence between Iran and the agency, resuming cooperation, and promoting regional collaboration in the peaceful use of nuclear energy to strengthen international and regional security.
