ALWAGHT- On Sunday, Tehran hosted the fifth round of political talks between Iran and Italy.
The meeting, co-chaired by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi and his Italian counterpart Riccardo Guariglia, marked an important step in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries. During the session, both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions covering a wide range of bilateral issues, including political cooperation, economic partnerships, cultural exchanges, and consular affairs. These talks reflected a mutual interest in deepening collaboration across multiple sectors.
Beyond bilateral matters, the delegations also addressed key international topics of shared concern. These included the indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, which remain a critical aspect of regional diplomacy, as well as broader developments in the Middle East. Both parties exchanged detailed views on these issues, signaling a willingness to coordinate their approaches where possible to contribute to regional stability.
The Iranian and Italian officials agreed on the importance of maintaining dialogue and follow-up mechanisms to ensure progress on agreed issues. They confirmed that the next round of political consultations will be held in Rome, demonstrating their commitment to ongoing engagement. In addition to the joint meeting, the Italian Deputy Foreign Minister held a separate session with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, further emphasizing the high level of diplomatic interaction between Tehran and Rome. This continued dialogue underscores Italy’s role as a key European partner for Iran amid complex international dynamics.
