ALWAGHT- The Secretary-General of Hezbollah underscores the Resistance's role in standing against "Israel", dismisses foreign influence, and urges prompt governmental action to ensure reconstruction and uphold sovereignty.
On the 25th anniversary of Resistance and Liberation Day, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem delivered a speech highlighting the historic impact of Israel's 2000 withdrawal from Lebanon. He described the Resistance as the force that transformed Lebanon from weakness to strength, restoring national pride and sovereignty. Paying tribute to key martyrs and leaders, including Sayyed Nasrallah and Imam Musa al-Sadr, Sheikh Qassem credited the Resistance with reshaping the political and cultural landscape of the region and ending Israel’s expansionist ambitions in Lebanon.
Sheikh Qassem condemned Israel for repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement, stating that the Resistance remains ready to act if the Lebanese state fails in its responsibilities. He emphasized that the Resistance is deeply rooted in Lebanese identity and continues to serve as a powerful deterrent against aggression. He also issued a warning to the United States, rejecting foreign pressure and asserting that Lebanon’s sovereignty is non-negotiable. Resistance, he said, is a choice — one that adapts with patience, force, or steadfastness as needed.
Turning to domestic affairs, Sheikh Qassem called for swift government action on Lebanon’s reconstruction and stability, rejecting any attempts at political blackmail. He praised the role of regional allies like Iran and Iraq in offering support and emphasized Hezbollah’s constructive role in local elections. Stressing national unity, he reaffirmed the strategic alliance with the Amal Movement and underscored Hezbollah’s commitment to inclusive governance and strengthening state institutions.
