ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed his condolences on the passing of Pope Francis, the head of the global Catholic community.
"I extend our heartfelt condolences to the global community, especially to the devoted followers of Pope Francis, as they mourn this profound loss," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on Monday. "His wisdom and compassion touched countless lives, promoting peace and unity across nations and faiths. We share in this sorrow and offer our deepest sympathies."
Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88, according to the Vatican.
The Pope, who served as Bishop of Rome and leader of the Catholic Church, was elected in 2013 after the resignation of his predecessor, Benedict XVI. In recent years, his health had been a concern, with multiple hospital visits.
After his passing, tributes have flooded in from global leaders and religious figures, celebrating his legacy of compassion and reform. Funeral arrangements are in progress, and the Vatican has entered a period of sede vacante, awaiting the election of a new pope.
