Hamas Rocket Strikes Injure Over 24 Israelis, Trigger Sirens in Occupied Territories

ALWAGHT- Hamas, a Palestinian resistance group, launched missile attacks on southern Israeli-occupied territories in retaliation for the killing of civilians by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas’ military wing, the Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for missile strikes targeting the Israeli cities of Ashdod and Ashkelon. Israeli media reported air raid sirens in Tel Aviv and surrounding areas, with at least one missile hitting a building and causing property damage. Injuries were reported, with conflicting figures from Israeli and Qatari sources.

Hamas spokesperson Jihad Taha stated the strikes were a response to what he called ongoing massacres and a genocidal war by Israeli forces in Gaza. He emphasized that the Palestinian resistance remains active and adaptable on the battlefield, and urged Israel to adhere to ceasefire proposals, adding that the Palestinians would not accept imposed conditions.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faced renewed domestic criticism over the prolonged conflict. Politicians such as Avigdor Lieberman and Benny Gantz condemned the lack of progress, pointing out that rockets continue to be fired and hostages remain in Gaza. Gantz questioned Netanyahu’s claim of “total victory,” citing the ongoing fear and insecurity among Israeli citizens.
