ALWAGHT- Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, stated that Tehran and Moscow have entered a new era of strategic, comprehensive, and long-term cooperation after signing a strategic partnership agreement.
Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, highlighted the growing strategic partnership between Tehran and Moscow during a ceremony in Moscow marking the 46th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution. He emphasized the revolution’s unique grassroots nature and its impact on regional and global affairs. Jalali noted Iran’s commitment to maintaining peaceful relations based on mutual respect but acknowledged the persistent challenges posed by global powers attempting to undermine the country. Despite these obstacles, he pointed to Iran’s achievements in various fields, including technology, healthcare, and defense, with around 10,000 knowledge-based companies contributing to economic growth.
Jalali described the evolving global order as shifting from unipolarity to multipolarity, with Iran actively engaging in multilateral cooperation with emerging powers like Russia, China, and India. He welcomed the strengthening of Iran-Russia ties, citing recent high-level diplomatic engagements and the signing of a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty. This agreement, he said, paves the way for long-term cooperation in multiple sectors, including energy, trade, banking, and science. He also highlighted Iran’s accession to BRICS and the free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union as key steps toward expanding regional economic collaboration, predicting significant growth in Iran-Russia trade in 2024.
Russia’s Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev reaffirmed the strong partnership between the two nations, noting that their trade and economic cooperation are progressing under a solid legal framework. He praised Iran’s development as an independent nation and emphasized joint efforts to counter Western sanctions. Tsivilev pointed to the recent free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union as a milestone in boosting trade. Looking ahead, he announced that Moscow would host the 18th session of the Russia-Iran Joint Intergovernmental Commission to finalize new agreements, expressing confidence in the continued deepening of bilateral ties despite geopolitical challenges.
