Two Israeli Soldiers Killed and Several Others Injured in a Shooting Near Tubas

ALWAGHT- Israeli military radio confirmed that a total of eight soldiers were injured, two of them fatally.

On Tuesday morning, two Israeli soldiers were killed, and six others were injured in a shooting near the village of Tayasir, east of Tubas in the northern West Bank. Israeli military radio confirmed that a total of eight soldiers were wounded, with two succumbing to their injuries. The wounded soldiers were evacuated to a hospital by military helicopter. The shooting occurred during an Israeli military operation in the northern West Bank, part of a broader escalation in the region.

Israeli media reported that the shooting involved an armed confrontation between a Palestinian man and Israeli soldiers near a military checkpoint in Tayasir. The Palestinian attacker, who barricaded himself in a watchtower before opening fire, was later confirmed to have been martyred. Following the attack, the Israeli military shut down the Tayasir checkpoint and conducted extensive searches in the area, while reinforcements were deployed.

This incident occurred amid a surge in military aggression by Israel in the occupied West Bank. Over the past two weeks, the Israeli military has escalated its actions, employing methods not seen in the region for years. Recently, the military deployed advanced Eitan armored fighting vehicles (AFVs) to Tubas and Jenin, marking their first use since “Operation Defensive Shield" in 2002. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that 70 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since the start of this year, with a significant number from the Jenin governorate, including children, women, and elderly individuals.
