ALWAGHT- A senior political advisor to Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, emphasized that Iran will exert its full strength to safeguard its peaceful nuclear program.
During a visit to an exhibition at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Shamkhani reaffirmed the transparency of Iran’s nuclear program and its commitment to international obligations. He emphasized that Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons and never will, but it remains determined to defend its legal rights with full force. Shamkhani also criticized world powers for breaking their promises and insisted that Iran will protect its national interests against excessive demands.
Shamkhani highlighted the significance of nuclear technology for Iran, noting its benefits beyond energy production, including applications in agriculture, medicine, pharmaceuticals, water management, and environmental protection. He argued that certain countries oppose Iran’s advancements in this field due to its potential to strengthen the nation. He also pointed out that Iran's scientific independence in nuclear technology has raised concerns among global powers.
Referring to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Shamkhani reminded that Iran had demonstrated the peaceful nature of its nuclear program by signing the agreement with six world powers. However, the US unilaterally withdrew from the deal in 2018 and reimposed sanctions, jeopardizing the agreement’s future. In response, Iran began rolling back its commitments under the JCPOA in 2019 after other signatories failed to uphold their obligations.
