Leader Highlights BRICS as a Valuable Opportunity for Iran

ALWAGHT- Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, urged Iranian officials to capitalize on the opportunities offered by Iran’s BRICS membership and emphasized the importance of reducing reliance on the US dollar.

At the “Pioneers of Progress” event in Tehran on January 22, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei met with domestic manufacturers and private sector leaders to discuss economic opportunities and challenges. He highlighted Iran's membership in BRICS as a significant advantage to counter sanctions and stimulate economic growth. The Leader emphasized the potential of BRICS’ financial system and encouraged trade exchanges among member states using their local currencies to reduce dependence on the US dollar.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged Iranian officials to promote diplomatic efforts to encourage BRICS members to move away from the dollar in trade transactions. He described this shift as a critical and decisive measure in the ongoing economic struggle, despite potential reactions. The Leader stressed that Iran’s Central Bank must facilitate the use of alternative foreign currencies, as this transition would strengthen Iran’s economy.

Calling for a focus on domestic capacities, Ayatollah Khamenei urged the government to support the private sector and remove obstacles hindering production growth. He referred to studies that outlined pathways for achieving an 8% economic growth rate, with identified capacities, investment plans, and solutions. The Leader concluded by urging officials to implement these solutions effectively to realize Iran’s economic goals.
