Alwaght- Recently, images of a strategic IRGC navy base that hosts offensive boats was published, drawing large-scale international media attention.

The unveiling of the naval base could be a factor of military and media deterrence given the strained West Asia conditions. Some media outlets described the coincidence of the IRGC navy's move with regional tensions as a clear Iranian message to the West.

Visiting the strategic base, IRGC Commander General Hossein Salami said: "Both the sailing range and sailing speed of the vessels, the range of the missiles deployed on these vessels, their accuracy and their destructive power have all achieved a significant leap and improvement. The speed of combat vessels, along with the increase in their sailing range and depth, and their ability to cross waves, high altitudes and turbulent seas, and the ability to sail far in the oceans for the vanguard and foremost defense of the vital interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran are the outcome of the extensive efforts of engineers and operational users of these systems both in the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics and in the Research and Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization of the IRGC navy and in the Iranian Navy's Factories."

General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of the IRGC Aerospace Forces, commented on the base, saying: "In a very short time, this dormant volcano will be ready to erupt on the enemy. In Operation True Promise 2, the missiles from this base were able to pass through the numerous and dense Zionist defense systems and destroy the Nevatim Air Base, the main location of the regime's F-35 fighter jets, and the Zionist regime has not yet been able to return the air base to its operational state."

This strategic base is one of the naval "cities" of the IRGC's navy that is home to the speedboats known as "hornets" equipped with naval cruise missiles.

In this underground facility of the IRGC navy, there are tunnels interwoven with each other, housing a large number of specialized vessels with domestically-developed missile launchers.

One of the most advanced of these vessels is “Zolfaqar”. The specialization and operational function of this vessel is destroying enemy destroyers and aircraft carriers. With the substantial upgrade to the Zolfaqar's weapon system, which uses high-explosive cruise missiles, now three fast and stealth Zolfaqar vessels alone can destroy an enemy aircraft carrier.

The commander of the IRGC navy General Alireza Tangsiri, standing next to the new high-speed vessel, said that with a carbon hull that can fire its smart cruise missiles at a speed of at least 180 kilometers per hour, and due to the type of hull material and design of the Tareq vessel, enemy radars will identify this vessel as a small fishing boat. This speedboat is capable of rapid operations at sea.

General Tangsiri says that this force is now capable of conducting long-term naval operations against enemy destroyers on the southern coast of Iran. One of the components of this force's power is now the underground cities hosting offensive vessels.

Referring to the unveiling of Iran's new missile city, CNN said that Iranian media have reported the production of a new special missile. The network reported, referring to the published images of this naval city, that the commander of the IRGC's Aerospace Force has described the new missile city as a "dormant volcano." Iran used this base against Israel in October and April, the network reported citing Iranian sources.

Citing General Salami's remarks, CNN reported that Iran is making a special new missile and its aim is to show off its power.

Saudi-funded Al-Arabiya news network reported that Iran's decision to unveil its fresh missile capabilities ahead of Trump's inauguration is a clear message to the West.

First Post news outlet under "Dormant volcano': Iran unveils underground drone & missle cities as tensions escalate in West Asia" title reported that "amid the ongoing tension in West Asia, Iran has unveiled an underground missile storage facility." The outlet reported that Iran used this missile city during both of its True Promise operations against Israel in April and October.

The British Daily Wrap in a report said that simultaneous with the unveiling of Iran's new missile city that is called dormant volcano, the country's media reported that this volcano could go active in the shortest possible time.

The British outlet, citing Jerusalem Post, added that the Israeli forces are concerned about imminence of Iranian attacks. If Iran decides to attack Israel, it will be the third direct Iranian attack.

Jerusalem Post in a report on the missiles hosted by the Iranian military facility maintained that one of the missiles in this missile city is Qadr, a long-range surface-to-surface missile that was unveiled in 2007. Qadr missile has a modular warhead that can carry a large number of bombs.
