Iran Cautions EU3 Against Triggering Snapback Mechanism

ALWAGHT- The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson cautioned the European troika that any attempt to invoke the snapback provisions of the 2015 nuclear agreement would prompt a retaliatory response from Iran.

During a press conference on Monday, Esmaeil Baghaei warned that Iran would respond with retaliation if the three European signatories of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) attempt to pressure Tehran by activating the deal's dispute mechanism.

He emphasized that triggering the snapback mechanism would effectively eliminate any justification for Iran to remain in the nuclear agreement.

Baghaei also dismissed the possibility of negotiations over Iran’s missile program in discussions with the EU3, reiterating that Iran’s defense and military capabilities are non-negotiable.

He further clarified that recent talks between Iran and the European troika have been strictly limited to nuclear-related issues.

Additionally, Baghaei criticized the European parties for their support of the Israeli regime, stating that Iran had openly addressed these concerns. He noted that discussions also touched on matters related to Syria and Ukraine.
