Iran Navy Set to Receive ‘Zagros’ Destroyer and Launch New Strategic Military Base

ALWAGHT- The Iranian Navy is poised to launch the Zagros destroyer, a state-of-the-art combat and intelligence vessel, as the country prepares to unveil its largest military base in Jask.

Iran’s Navy is set to introduce the domestically developed Zagros destroyer, an advanced combat and intelligence vessel. Rear Admiral Shahram Irani announced that the Zagros will be launched this week, marking a significant addition to Iran’s naval forces. He emphasized that the vessel, which showcases Iran's technological capabilities, will begin operating in regional waters.

In addition to the introduction of the Zagros, Irani revealed that Iran will open its largest military hub in Jask this week. The base will feature specialized dock posts and advanced technology. Irani praised Iran's vessel manufacturing industry, noting that the Navy’s 86th fleet has overcome various challenges to demonstrate the country’s maritime capabilities and exploit the blue economy. He also highlighted the collaboration with knowledge-based companies and scientists, which has contributed to the Navy’s success in defying Western powers' maritime dominance.

The Navy has conducted joint military exercises with countries such as Russia, China, and Pakistan, strengthening combat readiness and sharing knowledge to improve global maritime security. Irani stated that Iran's growing naval power has led other countries to seek collaboration, recognizing Iran's capacity and expertise in securing international waters.
