ALWAGHT- The director general of Gaza’s Ministry of Health has described the northern region of the strip as a 'hellish' scene, enduring 100 days of Israeli ground offensives and siege.
Munir al-Barsh, director general of Gaza’s Ministry of Health, described the situation in northern Gaza as "hell" due to relentless Israeli attacks and a blockade preventing food from reaching medical staff in hospitals. He reported that hospitals in the region have turned into mass graves, with the deliberate destruction of healthcare facilities and infrastructure aimed at depopulating the area.
Al-Barsh revealed that since October 2024, over 5,000 people have been killed or gone missing, 9,500 have been injured, and 2,300, including 65 medical staff, have been abducted during Israel's offensive. He condemned the international community's silence, which he argued has worsened the suffering of civilians. The destruction of hospitals, he asserted, is evidence of a systematic campaign against Gaza's health system.
Israel's offensive, launched in response to Hamas's Operation Al-Aqsa Storm in October 2023, has resulted in at least 46,565 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children, with thousands more missing under rubble. A Lancet study suggests the actual death toll could be significantly higher due to the collapse of Gaza's healthcare infrastructure, estimating underreporting by 41% during the war's first nine months.
