ALWAGHT- Yemeni air defense units have successfully intercepted and brought down another American MQ-9 Reaper drone engaged in hostile activities over the west-central province of Ma'rib.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF), announced in a televised statement on Wednesday that Yemeni forces had successfully downed another American MQ-9 Reaper drone. The drone was carrying out reconnaissance operations in the airspace above the west-central province of Ma'rib when it was intercepted by a domestically produced Yemeni surface-to-air missile.
This follows a similar incident on December 28, when Yemeni forces shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over the central province of al-Bayda, also using a locally made surface-to-air missile.
Since the onset of the devastating Israeli war on Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, Yemen has been targeting Israeli and American assets in solidarity with the Palestinians. In response to American-British aggression against their homeland, Yemen's Ansarullah resistance movement has also been attacking ships linked to Israel, the US, and the UK in an effort to pressure an end to Israel's genocidal war on Gaza.
These operations have had a significant impact, including the closure of the Eilat port in southern Israel, leading to considerable economic setbacks for the Israeli regime. Yemeni forces have pledged to continue their attacks until Israel ceases its ground and aerial assaults on Gaza.
