ALWAGHT- Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday night that he had dismissed Yoav Gallant.
Netanyahu announced that Foreign Minister Israel Katz will replace Yoav Gallant, while Gideon Sa’ar, currently a Minister without Portfolio, will step in as the new foreign minister, according to the Times of Israel.
"Initially, there was mutual trust and productive cooperation, but in recent months that trust has eroded between me and the Defense Minister," Netanyahu explained.
He stated that he and Gallant had differing views on managing the war, and that Gallant took actions and made statements conflicting with cabinet decisions.
"I made numerous efforts to bridge these gaps, but they only grew wider," Netanyahu said. "Unfortunately, these issues became public in an unacceptable way, even reaching our enemies, who exploited the situation to their advantage."
Netanyahu noted that most government members support his decision.
