Supreme Leader: Enhancing relations with Turkmenistan is a key priority

ALWAGHT- Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of Turkmenistan, along with his accompanying delegation.

During a meeting held on Wednesday afternoon, August 28, 2024, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, emphasized the importance of prioritizing the expansion of relations between Iran and Turkmenistan. He acknowledged the significant progress made in bilateral relations in recent years but stressed that many opportunities for further cooperation remain untapped and should be explored.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stated that strengthening ties based on mutual interests would benefit both Tehran and Ashgabat. He expressed hope that under the newly elected government of Dr. Pezeshkian, efforts to expand relations between the two nations would gain renewed energy and momentum.

The Leader also noted Dr. Pezeshkian's strong commitment to deepening relations with Turkmenistan and highlighted that Ms. Farzaneh Sadegh, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, will play a key role in advancing bilateral agreements as the head of the joint commission.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei further highlighted the National Leader of Turkmenistan's remarks on collaborative projects, particularly the North-South Transport Corridor and the development of the Turkmenistan gas pipeline. He underscored the importance of these initiatives, noting that their successful implementation, with the involvement of Iranian experts and specialists, would further strengthen the close ties between the two countries.
