ALWAGHT- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has condemned the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran as "a blatant violation" of the UN Charter, warning the Israeli regime that it will face consequences for its "reckless" terrorist act in due time.
Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini, the IRGC's spokesman and deputy head of the Public Relations Department, made these remarks during a ceremony on National Journalists' Day in Qom province on Sunday.
He added that the assassination of the Hamas leader "was an instance of a cognitive and political war aimed at sowing discord and weakening the deterrence of the resistance front."
The IRGC spokesman also pointed out that the fear of Iran's response has spread throughout the occupied territories, emphasizing that the Israeli regime mistakenly believes it can offset its battlefield losses through assassinations, even as its very existence and identity are on the verge of collapse.
He further noted that the Israeli regime's attempt to weaken the morale of the resistance front, one of the objectives of this assassination, has failed, and it has not achieved its military aims either.
Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were assassinated in Tehran on July 31, a day after he attended the inauguration ceremony of Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian.
