Alwaght- Iran's President Seyyed Ibrahim Raisi has strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Iranian consulate in Damascus on Monday afternoon that led to martyrdom of a number of IRGC generals and officers as a "cowardly" action, saying that it will not go unanswered
He said that the Israeli regime is far from realizing its goals through such terrorist actions, reported Fars News Agency.
"The Zionists should know that they will never achieve their evil goals with such inhumane actions, and this cowardly crime will not go unanswered," he added.
He went on: "Once again, in a terrorist crime and in gross violation of international laws, the dirty hands of the usurping Zionist regime were stained with the blood of several generals and officers of our country."
He said that the Israeli attack comes as Tel Aviv is desperate to deal with the fighters from the Axis of Resistance across the region.
"After repeated defeats and failures against the faith and will of the mujahideen of the Resistance Front, the Zionist regime has put blind assassinations on its agenda in the struggle to save itself, but it should know that it will never achieve its sinister goals with such inhumane measures. Day by day, we have witnessed the strengthening of the Resistance Front and the disgust and hatred of free nations against the illegitimate nature [of the Zionist regime] and this cowardly crime will not go unanswered," he maintained.
In the Monday afternoon attack that targeted the Iranian Embassy's consular section in the Syrian capital, a number of IRGC generals and officers on top of them General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, the head of IRGC advisory mission in Syria, were maryrded.
Iran vowed the Israeli regime will be held accountable for its crime. The UN, as well as regional and international actors, condemned the attack as a gross violation of the international laws as it directy strikes a diplomatic mission which has full immunity under international conventions.
