Saudi Embassy, Consulate Suspiciously Attacked in Iranian Cities of Tehran, Mashhad

Alwaght- In suspicious incidents, Saudi embassy in Tehran, Iran's capital, and the country's consulate general in the holy city of Mashhad were attacked on Saturday night.

Following the execution of prominent Muslim cleric Sheikh Mimr by Saudi regime, angry protesters stormed Saudi embassy in Tehran as well as the regime's consulate general in Mashhad, throwing Molotov cocktails at the buildings .

Despite the presence of Iranian police around the Saudi buildings, angry mob set fire inside the buildings, making police forces to resort to tear gas to scatter them and force the crowd out of the buildings .

There were several arrests, and sseveral officers were reportedly injured in clashes with protesters .

There have been previously peaceful demonstrations outside Saudi embassy in protest to Saudi regime's aggression on Yemen and Mina catastrophe, which claimed lives of 7,000 pilgrims, including 400 Iranian .

Regarding the fact that no violence had been reported during protests of people who have lost their family members in last year's Mina catastrophe, and the coincidence of attacks in cities of Tehran and Mashhad cast doubt on the last night's incidents.

Iran's Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling for calm and urging protesters to respect the diplomatic premises .
