World War III Approaching: Ex-IRGC Chief

Sunday 13 December 2015
World War III Approaching: Ex-IRGC Chief
Alwaght- A high ranking military official in Iran has warned the possible outbreak of a third world war following escalating tensions in the West Asia (Middle East) region.
In an interview on Iran's Channel One TV, Mohsen Rezaei pointed out that the region is now “poised for a big explosion.” He added that such a possible scenario has its roots in arising military incursions that had taken place in regional countries.
“The ground may also become prepared for the Third World War,” he cautioned.
Referring to the threat of a world war, Rezaei said, “This is a danger that threatens all the regional countries.” He added, “If everyone wants to prevent a big war from taking place, they should take action to eliminate this danger and fundamentally extinguish this fire.”
“Currently, the Americans are after saving Takfiri terrorist groups; they do not seek to resolve this tension and even seek to intensify tensions in the Middle East region and are escalating insecurity in the region either willingly or unwillingly,” said Rezaei, who serves as the secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council.
Elaborating further on the means to defuse the violence, the Iranian official said, “The United Nations can play a significant role in this regard,” adding, “Concerning the regional developments, there is a need for some international mobilization to take place among nations, of course not based on their national interests.”
Last month Iraq’s former prime minister warned that Turkey risks a “new world war” with its downing of a Russian fighter jet.
Nouri al-Maliki, until recently vice president of Iraq, said in a statement that Turkey’s stance on Syria was provocative.
“Erdogan claims that a Russian aircraft entered Turkey's airspace for a few seconds, forgetting that its own planes violate Iraqi and Syrian airspace every day," he said in a statement.
"Erdogan's double standards and aggressive policies are threatening a new world war.”
Iraq has backed Russia intervention in Syria, where it is bombing targets belonging to the ISIS terrorists group. The downing of a Russian fighter jet over northern Syria has raised tensions between Turkey, NATO, and Russia.
It is unthinkable that Turkey would have taken a decision against a powerful neighbor, fraught with incalculable consequences, without direct prior approval from the US government.
At a press conference yesterday with French President François Hollande in Washington, Obama endorsed the downing of the Russian jet, claiming that Turkey “has a right to defend its territory and its airspace.”
After Obama spoke, former US Ambassador to NATO Nicholas Burns again made clear that the Turkish government had acted as a proxy for Washington by shooting down the Russian plane.
It is becoming ever clearer that ISIS terrorists group itself emerged and was presented in the international media primarily in line with the shifting needs of the imperialist powers as a pretext for their wars.
