Ansarullah Delegation in Muscat for Yemen Talks

Saturday 21 November 2015
Ansarullah Delegation in Muscat for Yemen Talks
Alwaght- A delegation of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement and the General People's Congress (GPC), on Saturday arrived at the Omani capital, Muscat as part of  preliminary consultations  aimed at restoring stability in the war torn country.

The delegation will meet in Muscat with the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed to discuss the dialogue draft proposed by the United Nations as a prelude for the start of the Geneva consultations.
At the same time, Ansarullah spokesman Mohammed Abdul Salam called on Ansarullah supporters to remain steadfast against the continued schemes by the Saudi-led aggressors.
Abdul Salam said the Ansarullah, which took control Yemen's capital Sanaa last year following support from the masses, accepted the invitation to consultations in Oman after receiving a positive response to their suggestions for the talks agenda.
"We hope [the dialogue] will be serious and constructive, leading to a halt in aggression, lifting of the siege and revival of the political process," he wrote in a social media post announcing the trip.
"Based on all that, we will depart Sanaa International Airport today, God willing, for the Omani capital of Muscat."
The delegation was also invited to meet European envoys to clarify the Ansarullah’s political vision for Yemen, he said.
Earlier this month, the United Nations special envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed said that the talks between members of the Yemeni Ansarullah movement and the government of Yemen’s fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi would begin by mid-November.
The UN special envoy added that he was working with a team to “reach an agreement on the date... and the subjects that will be discussed within the context of the UN Security Council Resolution 2216.”
Saudi Arabia began a deadly military aggression against Yemen – without a UN mandate – on March 26 to stop advances of the Ansarullah movement which is backed by the country’s army and Popular Committees. The Saudi regime intends to restore fugitive former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to power.
Almost 7,500 people have been killed over an eight month period of the unabated Saudi aggression against the impoverished Arab state of Yemen.
The Saudi-led coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah movement fighters, but the coalition warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructure including schools, fresh water facilities, hospitals, mosques etc.
