Alwaght- A senior Iranian official said on Saturday the resistance front in the region will defeat the US and Israeli regime in eastern side of the Euphrates River, which flows from Turkey through Syria and into Iraq.
Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei on international affairs, made the remarks in a conference on Islamic unity in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
Velayati said the US and some Arab regimes are trying to create “a new West Asia (Middle East), whose reality will be marked by the disintegration of Muslim societies.”
He warned Washington was seeking to split Syria through its presence in the eastern Euphrates.
Velayati also referred to the recent West Asia tour of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s, saying the visit had been aimed at broadening the division among the Muslim Ummah (nation) and Muslim countries.
Velayati said the Americans were seeking to establish bases for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) with the help of some Arab regimes to prevent unity among these countries.
Much of northeast Syria to the east of the Euphrates is controlled by the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is dominated by the militants from the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and is backed by the US.
The US announced last month that it would work with the SDF to set up a new 30,000-strong “border security” force along the Turkish border with Iraq and within Syria along the Euphrates River.
Addressing the same gathering, Grand Mufti of Syria Sheikh Ahmad Badre Eddin Hassoun said the fires which have erupted in the region aimed at making Arabs forget Palestine and the Palestinian Issue.
Hassoun said that there is no excuse for not achieving the unity of nations, particularly after the victory of Syria and Iraq against terrorism and the scheme of division.
For his part, representative of the Iraqi President and Head of the of the Iraqi Assembly for Islamic Unity, Mahmoud Iysawi said that the Iraqis provided sacrifices for victory against ISIS, adding that convergence between nations is essential.
