Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, on the sidelines of the UN Human Rights Council and the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. Araghchi praised the strong ties between Iran and Cuba and called for greater cooperation among developing nations in international organizations to protect their shared interests. He reaffirmed Iran’s solidarity with Cuba against US sanctions, condemning them as a violation of international law and human rights.
Parrilla described Cuba-Iran relations as excellent and stressed Cuba’s commitment to expanding ties in all fields. He criticized the growing global tensions caused by the unilateral policies of the US and Israel, emphasizing the need for stronger diplomatic coordination between the two nations. He urged joint efforts at the UN and other international bodies to prevent violations of international norms.
Both ministers also discussed the situation in West Asia, particularly the human rights violations against Palestinians. They called for immediate international action to stop the forced displacement of Palestinians and ensure their rights are protected.
