Hamas Warns US over Embassy Relocation to Al-Quds

Hamas Warns US over Embassy Relocation to Al-Quds

Alwaght- Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has warned against the United States plans to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem) and recognize it as the capital of the Israeli regime.

This “would represent a US assault on the city and give legitimacy to [Israel] over the city,” Hamas said in a statement on Saturday.

US media on Wednesday said President Donald Trump was planning to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Hamas said such a US move “would give a cover to Israel to pursue the Judaization of al-Quds and expulsion of the Palestinians from the city.” Hamas has also urged Arab and Islamic nations to work to halt the expected US decision.

During his election, Trump promised to relocate the US embassy from Tel Aviv to al-Quds.

The Palestinian president’s office warned Friday of the potential destructive effects of any move denying the right to al-Quds as the capital of the future Palestinian state.

Without referring to Trump or the US by name, Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas’s spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina said any just solution in the Middle East required recognition of “East al-Quds as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.”

Al-Quds remains at the core of the perennial Israel-Palestine conflict, as Palestinians want Israeli-occupied East al-Quds as the capital of a future state.
